Sometimes in the ovary a sac like structure develops that is filled with fluids. This is known as ovarian cyst. Sometimes it is not just liquid that is filled in the sac like structure but also gas or semi-solid like substance. Formation of the cyst could be due to many reasons. One of the most common reasons is due to the growth of a follicle. This is known as a follicular cyst. Many a times a luteum cyst also occurs. This is when the corpus luteum does not disappear with the menstrual blood and forms a cyst with fluid.

Tumors within the uterine wall are known as fibroids. These tumors are most of the time benign. It is present in most of the women. It could be as small as a pea or as big a cantaloupe. The size depends on the estrogen rate in many cases it does not cause any problem but in some women the fibroid can be a real nuisance. It can cause bleeding problem, many suffer from cramps and pain in the abdominal region during menstrual period. Some fibroids become very big and press on the other organs in the reproductive system. It can also cause infertility.
